Marine & industrial electrical engineering

Keeping critical electrical and automation systems running

When a VFD, a PLC or an integrated power system fails, downtime gets expensive fast. I diagnose, repair and commission the systems your vessel, rig or plant depends on. On site, anywhere in the world.

Why operators call me

Built for the systems you cannot have offline

  • Complex installations

Propulsion drives, top drive VFDs, integrated PMS and EMS. When these stop, the whole operation stops. That is where I am most useful.

  • A direct line to the engineer

No chain of people. From the first call to the final test you deal with me. Short response times, one person accountable.

  • Field-tested, worldwide

25 years and more than 50 countries. Shipyards, rigs, production fields and industrial sites on six continents. Most failure modes I have seen before.

Services

Where I add the most value

These six areas are my daily work. If your problem sits between disciplines, or nobody can say where the fault actually lives, that is usually where I am needed. The boundaries between drive, control and power are where the real problems hide.

Approach

A specialist, not a generalist

My work sits where electrical power meets control systems. On a complex installation that is where most faults start. Over the past 25 years I have commissioned, serviced and rescued systems for drilling contractors, shipbuilders, vessel owners, EPCs and operators in more than 50 countries.

New-build battery-electric ferries, top drive rescues on land rigs, revamps on producing platforms: at the core the work is the same. Understand the system, get it stable, get it back to production.

Since 2020 I have worked freelance under jvissers.com, from a fully equipped 120 m² workshop in the Netherlands. I travel to client sites worldwide on short notice. Direct for owners and operators, or through EPCs, system integrators and yard project teams.

In the field

Work from the field, without the names

Client and vessel names stay confidential. The work itself I can show: what the installation was, what was wrong or what was needed, and what I did about it.

Battery systems keep getting bigger, and so do the control systems behind them: complex, and sensitive to faults. The devil is in the details.

System down?

Call. The phone is faster than the form.

+31 6 838 507 23

I answer personally and can be on site at short notice.

Have this at hand when you call

  • Make and model of the system: drive, PLC, top drive, PMS
  • Where the vessel or rig is now, and where it will be
  • What happened, and when it has to run again
  • Who I can reach on site

Discretion, built in

A meaningful share of my work involves proprietary control systems, prototype installations or operationally sensitive data. I treat confidentiality the way I treat safety: non-negotiable. NDA by default.

Talk to me about your project

A system down, a commissioning window coming up, or a specialist on call for the longer term. I respond personally, usually within one working day.
